WORKPLACE & IN-HOME DRUG TESTING KITS

Drug testing is a standard practice in many workplaces and the in-home drug testing kits are giving parents a great tool to determine if a problem exists with their children.

drug-2.jpgGovernment statistics show that seventy percent of current illicit drug users are employed. This means that over 10 million employees in the United States use illicit drugs.  This problem also costs employers time and money through poor work performance, absenteeism, injuries, morale issues and unnecessary errors in production.

drug-3.jpgThe most common avenue of identifying employees who use drugs is by drug testing in the workplace. Testing for the right reasons has the support of most employees and there is strong evidence that drug testing helps prevent future drug use. It should be noted that companies that use drug testing send a strong message that drug-free employees are valued and that occasional drug users need to stop or they will jeopardize their jobs.

Whenever planning a drug testing program, companies should always seek legal counsel. Although these cases are not common, drug testing related lawsuits filed against employers include invasion of privacy, wrongful discharge, defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, employer negligence, assault and battery, false imprisonment, and discrimination against minorities or people with disabilities.

Despite some controversy, statistics show that when a comprehensive prevention program is in place at your workplace you can reduce drug use and improve health, safety and productivity.
